Asian American Collective x Neuehouse
#APAHM CREATIVe Summit | may 20 2023
I am never not inspired by the AAC (Asian American Collective) community. This was our first ever fundraising event partnering with Neuehouse (West Hollywood) - we sold out! Our volunteer team worked tirelessly to put this program together which included panels, workshops, speed networking, and a party to celebrate. I was privileged to moderate/host one of our main panels The Business of Being a Creative. I wanted to make sure I didn’t cover topics that have been talked about over and over again. Instead, I wanted to highlight the panelists’ wins and challenges and how creativity finds its way into any situation, as women and as humans. Check out an excerpt from the script I wrote:
“Think Different,” said the famous 1997 Apple advertisement. That's the first line of this HBR article I read recently. It goes on to reveal that in order to think differently, we (as in entrepreneurs/innovators), must SEE differently.
They talk about a few ideas that erupted into what are norms in our world today. [ask crowd/panelists to choose between the two below anecdotes]* Swiss Engineer coming up with Velcro (burrs, hooked on clothes, microscope, boom)
* American Entrepreneur coming up Softsoap (soap bar, used soap bar, puddle of soapy goodness, boom)
[ask any panelist]
* How do you SEE differently?
* How have you SEEN differently?
* Can you look back to reveal how 'seeing differently' may have led you to 'think differently' in creating your business? ...In living your life, with a new perspective?

industry night 2019 | Nov. 5 2019
I love being able to talk to university students about how I got to be in a tech role when my degree was in Finance. It shows that the path for everyone is different and that’s okay. To also speak about the intersection of being a songwriter/artist and how it influences the way I build products for the industry was a challenge, but a good one to take on. I feel privileged to be on the panel with Lauren Tolliver (Reverb), @Khari Bowden (Discopoetry), and Drew Polovick (Friday Pilots Club). Let's continue to share our stories to help our next generation in the music industry!
Thanks to Loren Wells for inviting me onto the panel.

They wanted a successful WOMAN in TECH on the panel. Moi? I am happy PR (Lisa Nolan) at Jammber submitted me for the part. The crowd was young, but I really want our next generation to know that they can have a career in tech and in music by working hard, meeting the right people, and being resourceful. Thanks to Joshua Hodge for moderating and to Marshaun Robinson for being my panel partner.
